MEMORABILIA OF CAMP SHOSHANAH, ARIEL MINISTRIES and the Messianic Jewish Movement
This page was started by volunteer friends of Camp Shoshanah because we've been blessed by it's ministry!!  We're a 'Fan Site' !!

In 1969 & 1970 the Messianic Movement was gaining attention. Two young Jewish believers, Arnold Fruchtenbaum and Joe Finkelstein were tasked
with arranging a conference for the "Young Hebrew-Christian Alliance". For several days they drove around Pennsylvania, New York & New Jersey
visiting conference and college facilities, finally choosing Messiah College in Grantham Pennsylvania to host the gathering. Conference speakers
included Jewish believers Barry Leventhal, Arthur Katz, Arnold Fruchtenbaum, Martin Chernoff, Sandra Sheskin, Jeff Adler and Victor Buksbazen.

Arnold Fruchtenbaum is listed as Founder of "MYF" - The Messianic Youth Fellowship. He went on to become a scholar and author in the
Messianic Movement, and founder of Ariel Ministries which started several Messianic Congregations. He also founded
the Ariel Messianic Jewish Summer Bible School, which includes families and is held at Camp Shoshanah in upstate New York.

Joe Finkelstein founded the beloved singing group, Kol Simcha, and greatly helped to advance the Messianic Movement.
The Messiah Conference continues strong to this day, it's arranged by the MJAA - The Messianic Jewish Alliance of America.
While we've seen various articles on the History of Messianic Judaism, often they are written from only one viewpoint,
or omit key individuals, so original documents like those below are helpful.

These 3 Camp Shoshanah postcards were produced circa 1989 by Ariel staffer Patty Brdar. The top card shows a Sunday evening cookout and sing-along by the lake.
The middle card a photo of Arnold Fruchtenbaum ringing the bell EXACTLY 5 minutes before the class was to start, printed with what was considered a 'hip' font.
The bottom postcard a view of Trout Pond.

Yes, pro color postcards had long been available, but these rare cards were produced fully in-house, a labor of love, and sold in only one location on Earth: the Camp Shoshanah Shmata Shop, located in this building.

In the late 1980's, this Israeli Comic Strip hung in the Dining Room, with the name 'Arnold' over the original Noah,
as Ariel tried to raise money to put up new buildings at Camp Shoshanah.
